MessageBird (Bird): Carrier DDOS attack impacted TelServ traffic between 12:49 UTC until 13:51 UTC
Timeline of updates
- resolved
Between 12:49 UTC until 13:51 UTC on September 9th Voice Calling, Portal, and API access for a portion of our Numbers/Telserv related services were degraded. Additional services such as SipTrunking and Voice API were impacted and customers may have experienced choppy audio, dropped calls, or failed inbound/outbound calling. The root cause was a DDoS attack against a client located within a shared data center as MessageBird. The network carrier is investigating why their anti-DDoS system failed to prevent this issue.

How the archive is checked, and what it cannot prove.
This incident predates live tracking (October 17, 2026). It came from the vendor’s own published history, which is not covered by checkpoints.
