Twilio: Programmable Wireless SIMs are Losing Their Ability to Establish Data Sessions
Timeline of updates
- resolved
We are continuing to explore a long term solution with our connectivity partner to resolve the issue where international (non-US) roaming permissions expire after 1,047 days and need to be re-applied. We are seeking one that does not require you to perform updates to all of your SIMs as doing so will cause them to temporarily disconnect. We expect this solution to take some time (days/weeks) to plan and execute. In the meantime, the workaround described earlier in this incident can help mitigate this issue if you have Programmable Wireless SIMs that have been active for over 2.5 years. Once we have a long term solution, we will send out an advisory email to Programmable Wireless users with more details. If you have been impacted by this incident and wish to continue to receive updates, please open a ticket with customer support.
From Twilio’s published incident history: for incidents before Rewindex began polling this status page, only the final update text is available.
Archive proof
Rewindex commits each version of an incident it captures to a daily checkpoint, chains it to the day before, and has the checkpoint timestamped by FreeTSA and DigiCert.
How the archive is checked, and what it cannot prove.
This incident predates live tracking (October 17, 2026). It came from the vendor’s own published history, which is not covered by checkpoints.
Impact, status and times are the vendor’s own, as last archived. View on status.twilio.com (opens in new tab).
