- resolved
We have identified an issue with the Google Groups Query API, which is returning inconsistent or incomplete group data. This transient API issue can result in unintended group deletion of those groups in Okta.
As a workaround, we have implemented a protective measure to prevent accidental deletion during group imports from Google. When a large volume of group deletions is detected, the import is stopped to protect against importing bad data. Customers with a verified, legitimate need for a mass deletion can contact Support to enable a temporary override for this limit.
Our team is collaborating with our third-party provider to implement a permanent fix, and a Root Cause Analysis will be forthcoming.
Archive proof
Rewindex commits each version of an incident it captures to a daily checkpoint, chains it to the day before, and has the checkpoint timestamped by FreeTSA and DigiCert.
How the archive is checked, and what it cannot prove.
This incident predates live tracking (October 17, 2026). It came from the vendor’s own published history, which is not covered by checkpoints.
Impact, status and times are the vendor’s own, as last archived. View on status.okta.com (opens in new tab).
