Mailgun: Intermittent errors when using the API
Timeline of updates
- resolved
On 3/22/16 between 13:00 - 16:00 UTC we experienced an outage to parts of our API. This outage was caused by a configuration change to our internal load balancer that was deployed to production on 3/21/16 but only manifested itself under high load. When we discovered the cause of the latency was issues we rolled back our change and the load balancer performance, and in turn our API performance, returned back to normal. No messages were lost during the outage.
From Mailgun’s published incident history: for incidents before Rewindex began polling this status page, only the final update text is available.
Archive proof
Rewindex commits each version of an incident it captures to a daily checkpoint, chains it to the day before, and has the checkpoint timestamped by FreeTSA and DigiCert.
How the archive is checked, and what it cannot prove.
This incident predates live tracking (October 17, 2026). It came from the vendor’s own published history, which is not covered by checkpoints.
Impact, status and times are the vendor’s own, as last archived. View on status.mailgun.com (opens in new tab).
