LiveKit: RoomComposite Egress Outage
Timeline of updates
- resolved
RoomComposite egress requests began failing at 6:35AM. We received an alert at 6:37AM, as well as user reports starting at 6:52AM. The outage lasted until 8:05AM. The outage was due to a RoomComposite request causing a Chrome failure, creating a bad state on one of our instances. This caused the instance to fail all subsequent RoomComposite requests. Restarting the service fixed the issue, and both our logging and health checking have been improved to ensure this failure loop does not occur again.
From LiveKit’s published incident history: for incidents before Rewindex began polling this status page, only the final update text is available.
Archive proof
Rewindex commits each version of an incident it captures to a daily checkpoint, chains it to the day before, and has the checkpoint timestamped by FreeTSA and DigiCert.
How the archive is checked, and what it cannot prove.
This incident predates live tracking (October 17, 2026). It came from the vendor’s own published history, which is not covered by checkpoints.
Impact, status and times are the vendor’s own, as last archived. View on status.livekit.io (opens in new tab).
