The Greenhouse Recruitment application was unavailable for 90 seconds ending at 4:28pm EST on 2/23/2016. Greenhouse Job Boards, Analytics and the Greenhouse API were not affected. The outage occurred during a routine deployment that made changes to an important database table. The changes caused an exclusive lock to be placed on that table, causing many database queries to run slowly. This resulted in the application being very slow or unavailable to many of our users. We take this kind of incident very seriously and will be posting a more detailed postmortem soon. As part of this process, we will re-evaluate our internal processes in order to avoid this kind of downtime in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience that this issue may have caused.
