Akamai: Akamai Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) issues
Timeline of updates
- resolved
We identified an issue with Akamai MFA between 4:30 UTC and 5:20 UTC on May 13, 2025 where users were unable to access sites that required MFA authentication and experienced "Site cannot be reached" errors. While our SMEs were actively investigating the issue, the services resumed normal operations without Akamai taking any actions. We are in the process of determining the root cause and will take necessary actions. We apologize for the impact and thank you for your patience and continued support. We are committed to making continuous improvements to make our systems better and prevent recurrence. From Akamai’s published incident history: for incidents before Rewindex began polling this status page, only the final update text is available.
Archive proof
Rewindex commits each version of an incident it captures to a daily checkpoint, chains it to the day before, and has the checkpoint timestamped by FreeTSA and DigiCert.
How the archive is checked, and what it cannot prove.
This incident predates live tracking (October 17, 2026). It came from the vendor’s own published history, which is not covered by checkpoints.
Impact, status and times are the vendor’s own, as last archived. View on www.akamaistatus.com (opens in new tab).
