Timeline of updates

  1. update

We are investigating a feature disruption where customers are unable to use the dashboard or Command Line Interface (CLI) and are unable to manage, create new dynos, or add-ons; however, running dynos and databases are unaffected. Initial investigations show that an expired certificate has caused the complete unavailability of the Heroku API. We are working to renew the certificate. We will provide an update in 30 minutes or sooner if additional information becomes available.

  2. update

The expired certificate has been restored, allowing some direct access to the API. However, subsequent API requests continue to result in a '502 error’. More engineers are being engaged to investigate and determine the best resolution path. We will provide an update in 30 minutes or sooner if additional information becomes available.

  3. update

At 13:46 UTC, on January 15, 2026, teams completed validation and confirmed the incident has been resolved after the new certificate was propagated to all impacted environments. We apologize for how this incident may have affected you and your business. We will perform a full investigation of the incident, confirming the technical trigger, the underlying cause, and preventive action to avoid a repeat in the future.
